CLINICAL CHALLENGE

Spinal stenosis is a common diagnosis among patients with lower back pain. Laminectomy / decompression is the most common treatment for spinal stenosis and it can often result in the affected spinal segment being left unstable. Posterior instrument fixation does not create an optimal environment for fusion and minimally invasive posterior fixation may not allow for the placement of bone graft material.

THE SOLUTION

The VerteLoc Posterolateral Fusion system uses a minimally invasive surgical technique and simple instrumentation to access, decorticate the facet joints, and place the implants.

  • Posterolateral fusion – VerteLoc can be used in conjunction with posterior instrumentation to aid in posterolateral fusion
  • Stabilization of the segment – Stabilization of the facet joints increases the stiffness of the segment, providing an optimal environment for fusion1

VerteLoc ADVANTAGES

  • Minimally Invasive – Designed to be used in conjunction with percutaneous pedicle screws for supplemental posterolateral allograft fusion
  • Biomechanics – Patented implant geometry limits motion due to the rectangular body limiting flexion/extension and the dual vertical stabilizers limiting both axial rotation and lateral bending
  • Decortication – Decortication is efficiently performed as part of the procedure
